7 Days Mount Kenya Trekking Safari – Timau Naromoru Route

Day 1: Depart Nairobi for Nanyuki town, then drive to the Timau Road to Mt. Kenya.
Day 2: Hiking across northern moorland of Mt. Kenya with its unique flora and seeing some wildlife.
Day 3: Continue with trek over rolling moorland
Day 4: Hike up to the spectacular Hall Tarns where the beautiful rock formation – the Temple stands guard over Lake Michaelson.
Day 5: Penetrate the defenses of the Temple and descend to the Lake Michaelson and enjoy the scenic wonder.
Day 6: Descend to Mackinders Camp on the Naro Moru Track.
Day 7: Descend the mountain via the Naro Moru Route completing a fine circuit of Mt. Kenya, to the Naro Moru and catch transport to Nairobi.

7 Days Mount Kenya Climbing via Sirimon – Naromoru Route

Day 1: Depart Nairobi for the trek. Then drive to the Sirimon Gate where we trek starts .
Day 2: This day incorporates a picnic on the Mt. Kenya day hike. This is very interesting and enjoyable day spent in the depths of the forest.
Day 3: Begin our trek up the moorland and break away from the Sirimon Track and go to the Sirimon Valley.
Day 4: Get out of the Sirimon Valley and into the head of the Hinde Valley. We then cross the Nithi and Gorges Valleys.
Day 5: Descend to Lake Michaelson, in the depth of the Gorges Valley.
Day 6: Make the alpine ascent of the third highest peak, Pt. Lenana then descend to Teleki Valley
Day 7: Descend to Met. Station and catch transport way back to Nairobi.

Mount Kenya Climbing Chogoria Traverse Naromoru – 7 Days

Day 1: Depart from Nairobi for Chogoria, then up to the forest gate.
Day 2: Walk up to Bairuni clearing
Day 3: Walk up to gate cliffs through Uramandi hut, near Mt. Kenya Forest Lodge
Day 4: Trek up a bit steep areas through Mugi hills to get to Lake Ellis
Day 5: Hike along Hinde Valley to the Hall Tarns/Mintos Hut
Day 6: Ascend Pt. Lenana via Simba Col, Lake Harris, Kobe Peak and to Mackinders Camp
Day 7: Descend through Naro Moru route- vertical bog to Met. Station for transport to Nairobi

Mount Kenya Hiking via Sirimon – Naromoru Route – 5 Days

Day 1: Leave Nairobi to Nanyuki.
Day 2: Transfer from Nanyuki to the Sirimon Park gate where the trekking starts. Walk through the rain forest for 9kms (3-hrs walk) to the first mountain hut – Old Moses.
Day 3: Leave for Shiptons Camp via Mackinders Valley.
Day 4: Leave Shiptons Camp ready to hike to point Lenana. On a clear day, we should be able to see Mt Kilimanjaro to the South. After Point Lenana descend to the Mintos hut then proceed to Meru Mt. Kenya bandas campsite.
Day 5: Walk will take us to Chogoria for lunch then back to Nairobi.

5 Days climbing Mount Kenya via Sirimon – Chogoria Route

Day 1: Leave Nairobi to Nanyuki.
Day 2: Transfer from Nanyuki to the Sirimon Park gate where the trekking starts. Walk through the rain forest to the first mountain hut – Old Moses.
Day 3: Leave for Shiptons Camp via Mackinders Valley.
Day 4: Wake up very early in the morning around 0230hrs ready to hike to point Lenana. On a clear day, we should be able to see Mt Kilimanjaro to the South. After Point Lenana descend to the Mintos hut then proceed to Meru Mt. Kenya bandas campsite.
Day 5: Early walk to Chogoria enroute back to Nairobi.

Circumnavigation of Mount Kenya – 5 Day

Day 1: Depart Nairobi for the trek. After Lunch in Nanyuki town, drive to Sirimon gate and start out trek to the Met Station.
Day 2: Hike up to the Teleki valley to Mackinders Camp where there is a view of the main peaks.
Day 3: Begin the circumnavigation of the main peaks by heading north. One traverse takes us below the south and west faces on our approach to Two Tarn Hut then across Western terminal and into Hausberg Valley and finally over Hausberg Col and into Mackinders Valley. Walking time proximately 5 hours. The highest point reached this day is 4,500m. Our camp in Mackinder valley is at an altitude of 4,300m. Night will be spent in high altitude tents.
Day 4: Alpine ascent of the third highest peak Point Lenana up the north face little used by tourists. The top should be reached after about four hours of stiff walking. Altitude of Point Lenana is 4985m. We then descend into Teleki Valley and spend the night at our original camp completing a scenic traverse of the Mountain.
Day 5: Descend the Mountain to Met Station and return to Nairobi.
