Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve
Met on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, briefed by a Destination East Africa representative and drive North through the lush Kikuyu farmlands and coffee plantation to the cool Kenyan highlands to arrive at the Samburu Lodge / Similar in time for lunch. At 1600hrs, enjoy an afternoon game drive within the park to introduce you to the game in the area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 2: Samburu National Reserve
Full day in the reserve with game drives at 0630hrs and 1600hrs respectively. Samburu National Reserve is very peaceful and attracts animals because of Uaso Nyiro River (meaning "brown water" and pronounced U-aa-so-Nyee-ro) that runs through it and the mixture of acacia, riverine forest, thorn trees and grassland vegetation. The Uaso Nyiro flows from the Kenyan highlands and empties into the famous Lorian Swamp. The natural serenity that is evident here is due to its distance from industries and the inaccessibility of the reserve for many years. There is a wide variety of animal and bird life seen at Samburu National Reserve. Several species are considered unique to the region, including its unique dry-country animal life: All three big cats can be found here, as well as elephant, buffalo and hippo. The Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich are unique to this reserve.Dinner and Overnight at the Samburu Lodge.
Day 3: Samburu - Aberdare National Park
Depart after breakfast and proceed south to the Aberdare Country Club. The club is the base hotel for the tree hotel-The Ark. Lunch at the club. At 1430hrs; transfer to the Ark which is located in the Aberdare National Park, with small overnight bags as most of the luggage is left at the club. The Ark has various decks and balconies for easy viewing and photography of wild game. Dinner and overnight of game viewing at the lodge.
Day 4: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, transfer back to the base hotel to retrieve rest of your luggage and drive towards the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving at Lake Nakuru Lodge / Similar in time for lunch. At 1600hrs, enjoy an afternoon game drive in park that also takes you to the shores of the lake famous for its birdlife especially flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Depart Nakuru after breakfast and drive through the floor of the Rift Valley to the world famous Maasai Mara game reserve, arriving at Keekorok Lodge / Royal Mara Safari Lodge /Similar in time for lunch. At 1600hrs enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 6: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Full days in the reserve with both morning and afternoon game drives at 0630hrs and 1600hrs respectively. Considered by many to be Kenya's finest game reserve, the 650sq miles of the Maasai Mara adjoin Tanzania's well-known Serengeti, forming one ecosystem. The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is the home of numerous wildlife species including elephant, rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topi, impala, gazelle, warthog and zebra. From June to September, the annual Wildebeest migration takes place when thousands of these animals sweep across the plain and seek out new grazing areas. Dinner and overnight at the Keekorok Lodge / Royal Mara Safari Lodge / Similar
Day 7: Maasai Mara - Nairobi- Departure
Depart the Mara after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. Lunch at the famous Carnivore restaurant, justifiably referred to as Africa’s Greatest Eating Experience, having twice been voted amongst the worlds 50 best restaurants by UK based Restaurant magazine. Drop off at Jomo Kenyatta international Airport for your flight back home.
