KENYA CAMPING SAFARIS
Kenya Camping safaris are designed for those in search of a real adventure, joining safari for who enjoy the unpredictable wilderness. On safaris you are expected to help with the camp chores. Your meals will be prepared by our expert safaris cook over wood fires. Those who join are from all walks of life and nationalities usually between 16 and 60 years. Age however is not the criteria all that's needed is a sense of humor, a willingness to participate and a spirit of adventure.
DEA 14: 5 Days Tsavo East / Amboseli / West National Park
Day 1: Mombasa - Tsavo East National Park
Depart Mombasa and drive to Tsavo East National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon is spent game viewing in this vast wilderness reserve. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Tsavo East
The park was established on 1st April, 1948 with an area of 21,812 Km2 It is the largest Park in Kenya. In May 1948 Tsavo National Park was divided into East and West for administrative purposes. The two Parks are divided by Nairobi–Mombasa railway /road.
Construction of the railway reached Tsavo river in 1898. During the construction of the bridge Lions (Man eaters of Tsavo) terrorized the workers, killing over 130 people before being killed by Col. Patterson. During the World War I (1914-1918) British forces built fortresses along Tsavo river to counter threats from invading.
Day 2: Tsavo East - Amboseli National Park
After breakfast proceed to Amboseli National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 3: Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, proceed on a game drive in this park , which lies in a dried -up lake bed. There are swamps and springs fed up by underground Rivers from the melting snows of Mount Kilimanjaro , which give permanent water to the wildlife. The animals are mainly found around the Ol Kenya swamp. On a clear weather and if there is no cloud cover you will see the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro which forms a beautiful backdrop to the park. The observation hill offers a view of the entire park and beyond afternoon game drive will follow after lunch Dinner and Overnight at the camp.
Day 4: Amboseli - Tsavo West National Park
After breakfast drive to Tsavo West National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon spent game viewing in this park. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Tsavo West
The park is a vast expanse of savanna stretching from Mtito Andei, along the Mombasa-Nairobi road and south to the Tanzanian border. The North Eastern boundary along the Highway adjoins Tsavo East National Park, but Tsavo West has a more varied topography and a more diverse array of habitats than its neighbour.
The park's habitats include open plains alternating with Savannah bush and semi desert scrub, acacia woodlands; rocky ridges and outcrops and more extensive ranges and isolated hills; belts of riverine vegetation; palm thickets and on the Chyulu hills, mountain forest.
Day 5: Tsavo West - Mombasa
After breakfast return to Mombasa with game drive enroute arriving in the early afternoon.
